My Mother-in-Law, Julie, who grew up in this house that her father built, has been generous with information about the house and property. She writes:
After her first husband died in a rodeo accident in Chase, Lempi sold milk and butter to make ends meet. After she married Carl she, her mother, and her daughters Ethel and Ellen lived with him in the pre-existing two-room house on their new Hammond property. Lempi’s mother used to brew beer in the basement of the new Whitehead residence [now Hammond Forever House].
